The Seattle Seahawks have been looking to trade Richard Sherman for some time now. Apparently, the San Francisco 49ers are one of the teams interested in acquiring him.
The richard sherman pff is a rumor that Richard Sherman could be an option at corner for the Bears.
Getty According to Tom Pelissero, Richard Sherman has been getting calls from interested clubs.
The Chicago Bears, more than any other club in the NFL, are in desperate need of secondary assistance. The Bears have a lot of concerns at cornerback after letting All-Pro cornerback Kyle Fuller go to preserve salary money.
Kindle Vildor, Duke Shelley, Artie Burns, and Xavier Crawford, the Bears’ second-year standout, is great, but they only have four CBs on their roster, none of whom are consistent or reliable: Kindle Vildor, Duke Shelley, Artie Burns, and Xavier Crawford.
Is it possible that the Bears might benefit from adding a three-time All-Pro to their secondary? According to Brent Sobieski of Bleacher Report, Richard Sherman is not just the greatest available free agent at cornerback, but also the best available free agent overall.
In his September 18 column, Sobieski stated, “From an on-field viewpoint, Richard Sherman is the best available free agent at any position.” Sherman has had the second-best coverage grade among all NFL cornerbacks since turning 31 in 2019, according to Pro Football Focus.
Is he, though, the perfect fit for the Bears? Given their lack of depth at the position, they must be at least interested in investigating his availability.

Sherman Has Recently Experienced Some Off-The-Field Problems
Sherman intends to play at some point this season, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, after his current legal problems are addressed. Sherman was arrested in July on charges of driving under the influence, reckless endangerment of highway employees, criminal trespass, resisting arrest, and intentional mischief, among others. On all counts, the veteran DB has pleaded not guilty.
As Pelissero puts it, the scenario is as follows:
He wrecked his SUV in a construction zone and then attempted to break into the house of a family member. Sherman pleaded not guilty to all counts and promised to get treatment. The arrest was first reported as a domestic violence incident, but police claimed he didn’t physically attack anybody. Sherman has been undergoing magnetic treatment and talking to a therapist since the event, according to a source close to him, which has helped him work through many problems he didn’t have the skills to handle previously. He’s also lost 15 pounds, which he gained after an Achilles injury in 2017 and maintained for the most of his three seasons in San Francisco. Sherman’s legal status is being investigated by the league. The NFL’s 2023 substance-abuse policy calls for a three-game suspension without pay for a first DUI violation, but the league seldom punishes players before the legal process is completed, so Sherman would likely be able to return to the field right away.
Sherman issued a message on Twitter on July 16 saying, “I am truly sorry for my conduct.” “I acted in an unflattering way. I’ve been dealing with some personal issues over the past several months, but it doesn’t justify my behavior. The significance of mental and emotional wellness is undeniable, and I pledge to get the assistance I need. I am grateful to everyone who has shown their support to me and my family, especially our Seattle community. I am fortunate to have such a wonderful wife, family, and support system to rely on at this difficult time.”

Sherman’s Mental and Physical Health Is Priority One.
Sherman’s physical and emotional health are clearly paramount, and he should take as much time as he needs to care for himself. However, if he chooses to return to action — and Pelissero claims he will — he would be worth a look for the Bears, since he is better than anybody other than Jaylon Johnson.
Sherman saw limited involvement in 2023, appearing in just five games due to a calf ailment. Last year, Pro Football Focus gave him a 67.7 overall grade after he allowed a 69.6 passer rating and eight catches on 14 targets. In 2019, he appeared in 15 games and had an overall grade of 88.9 and a coverage grade of 90.1 from PFF. He threw three interceptions and gave up 27 catches on 51 targets. When targeted that year, he gave up a paltry 46.8 passing rating to opposing quarterbacks.
Sherm’s physical condition is also in doubt, since he has only appeared in five games since the start of the 2023 season, but Pelissero’s report shows that he is on the mend.
The Bears haven’t been formally connected to the 33-year-old five-time Pro Bowler, but many fans on social media are hopeful he’ll come to Chicago for some short-term secondary assistance.
